About Refractory Repair and Gunning Mix
Refractory Repair and Gunning Mix is a monolithic refractory supplied dry in bags and applied to damaged or worn linings: sprayed onto the surface with a gunning machine, or mixed and packed by hand. It bonds to the existing lining and restores thickness where the hot face has eroded, spalled or cracked.
Repairs extend the life of a lining between full relines, and gunning lets a large area be repaired quickly during a short outage. The grade is matched to the lining being repaired and to the temperature and wear it sees.
Grade, method and quantity are confirmed on quotation.
Zenco Systems supplies refractory repair mixes from Nairobi across Kenya and East Africa, together with castables, mortars and anchors.

Selection & Installation Guidance
Installation
Remove loose material, wet or prime the surface as specified, apply by gunning or hand, and follow the heat-up schedule.
Use a repair mix to restore local wear; reline with castable or brick when the lining has lost most of its thickness. As with any castable, follow the heat-up schedule after a repair to avoid spalling.
To request a quotation, send the lining material, the operating temperature, the area and depth to repair, the method and the delivery site.
Safety & Handling
Wear a dust mask, gloves and eye protection when mixing and gunning. Store bags dry and off the floor.
Documentation
The manufacturer's technical datasheet and safety data sheet for the grade supplied are issued with every quotation, and name the certified values for this material.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I repair instead of relining?
Repair local wear while most of the lining thickness remains. When the lining has worn through over a wide area, reline.
Does a repair need dry-out?
Yes. Follow the heat-up schedule for the mix, as with any castable, or trapped water can cause spalling.
What should I send to get a quotation?
The lining material, operating temperature, area and depth to repair, method and delivery site. Availability, packaging, transport and documentation are confirmed by the sales team before dispatch.
