About Refractory Anchors
Refractory Anchors are stainless steel fixings welded to the steel shell of a furnace, boiler, kiln or duct before a castable or gunned lining is placed. The lining sets around them, and the anchors hold it to the shell through heating, cooling and vibration.
Anchor failure is one of the most common causes of lining loss and is often mistaken for a material problem, so the anchor is specified with the lining. The stainless grade is chosen for the temperature the anchor tip will reach; the length for the lining thickness; and the shape and spacing for the lining type.
V- and Y-anchors are the common shapes for castable linings. Grade, shape, length and quantity are confirmed on quotation.
Zenco Systems supplies refractory anchors from Nairobi across Kenya and East Africa, together with the castables they hold in place.

Selection & Installation Guidance
Installation
Weld to the clean shell at the specified spacing and orientation, cap or wrap the tips, then place the castable.
Order anchors with the castable, not as an afterthought. Send the lining thickness, the hot-face temperature and the area to be lined, and the sales team will confirm the grade, length and quantity.
Tip ends are usually capped or wrapped before the castable is placed, to allow for the steel expanding faster than the lining.
Safety & Handling
Welding to the shell is hot work: follow the site permit and fire-watch procedure. Store anchors dry.
Documentation
The manufacturer's technical datasheet and safety data sheet for the grade supplied are issued with every quotation, and name the certified values for this material.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I choose the anchor length?
From the lining thickness: the anchor usually reaches most of the way through the lining but stops short of the hot face. Send the thickness and the sales team will confirm.
Which stainless grade do I need?
One rated for the temperature the anchor tip will reach inside the lining. Send the hot-face temperature and lining thickness.
What should I send to get a quotation?
The lining thickness, hot-face temperature, area to be lined and delivery site. Availability, packaging, transport and documentation are confirmed by the sales team before dispatch.
