About Ceramic Fibre Paper

Ceramic Fibre Paper is a thin, flexible sheet made from ceramic fibre with a small amount of binder, supplied in rolls. It brings the temperature capability of ceramic fibre to applications where only a few millimetres of material will fit.

It is cut into gaskets and seals for furnace doors, burners, flues and kiln cars; used as a compressible layer in expansion joints and between refractory and the steel shell; as a parting layer that stops molten metal or glass sticking; and as a heat shield around wiring, instruments and components.

The binder burns out on first heating, leaving the fibre in place. Thickness, roll width and grade are confirmed on quotation.

Zenco Systems supplies ceramic fibre paper from Nairobi across Kenya and East Africa, alongside ceramic fibre blanket, board and textiles.

Selection & Installation Guidance

Installation

Cut with a knife or scissors and fit without stretching; expect a little smoke and odour on first heating as the binder burns out.

Choose paper where the gap is a few millimetres: gaskets, seals, expansion and parting layers. For thicker sealing, ceramic fibre rope, tape or textile gaskets are listed separately.

To request a quotation, send the operating temperature, the thickness and width, the quantity and the delivery site.

Safety & Handling

Refractory ceramic fibre releases fine fibres when cut or handled. Wear gloves, long sleeves, eye protection and a P2 or P3 dust mask, cut with a knife rather than a power saw, and clean up by vacuum, not by brushing or compressed air.

Documentation

The manufacturer's technical datasheet and safety data sheet for the grade supplied are issued with every quotation, and name the certified values for this material.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is ceramic fibre paper used for?

High-temperature gaskets and seals, expansion joints, parting layers against molten metal and glass, and heat shields in tight spaces.

Why does it smoke on first heating?

The paper contains a small amount of organic binder, which burns out the first time it is heated. The ceramic fibre remains.

What should I send to get a quotation?

The operating temperature, the thickness and width, the quantity and the delivery site. Availability, packaging, transport and documentation are confirmed by the sales team before dispatch.
