About Ceramic Fibre Modules

Ceramic Fibre Modules are blocks of ceramic fibre blanket, folded or stacked, compressed and held by banding, with anchor hardware built in. Each module is fixed to the furnace shell, the banding is cut, and the fibre expands against its neighbours, closing the joints. A wall or roof is lined to full thickness in a single layer.

Module linings are fast to install, need no curing or dry-out, and have the low thermal mass of ceramic fibre, so a furnace heats up and cools down quickly and less fuel is spent heating the lining. They are widely used on heat-treatment furnaces, reheat furnace roofs and walls, kilns, fired heaters and furnace doors.

Module size, fibre grade and the anchor system are chosen for the furnace and its shell. They are confirmed on quotation, so send the operating temperature, the lining thickness and the shell area.

Zenco Systems supplies ceramic fibre modules from Nairobi across Kenya and East Africa, together with the blanket and board used to finish around them.

Selection & Installation Guidance

Installation

Fix each module to the shell through its anchor hardware, set modules in a parquet or soldier pattern, then cut the banding so the fibre expands and closes the joints.

Modules replace layered blanket where the lining has to be thick, fast to install, or easy to repair. A damaged module can be cut out and replaced on its own.

To request a quotation, send the operating temperature, the lining thickness, the area of wall and roof to be lined, and the delivery site.

Safety & Handling

Refractory ceramic fibre releases fine fibres when cut or handled. Wear gloves, long sleeves, eye protection and a P2 or P3 dust mask, cut with a knife rather than a power saw, and clean up by vacuum, not by brushing or compressed air.

Documentation

The manufacturer's technical datasheet and safety data sheet for the grade supplied are issued with every quotation, and name the certified values for this material.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why use modules instead of layered blanket?

Modules line the full thickness in one layer, install quickly, need no dry-out, and can be replaced individually. Layered blanket needs many anchors and layers to reach the same thickness.

Do module linings need curing or dry-out?

No. Unlike castable, a ceramic fibre module lining can be heated as soon as it is installed.

What anchor system do the modules use?

It depends on the module type and the furnace shell. The anchor hardware is confirmed on quotation with the module size and grade.

What should I send to get a quotation?

The operating temperature, the lining thickness, the wall and roof area to be lined and the delivery site. Availability, packaging, transport and documentation are confirmed by the sales team before dispatch.
