About Silico Manganese 60/14
Silico Manganese 60/14 is a ferroalloy of manganese, silicon and iron, supplied as lumps. The 60/14 grade contains at least 60% manganese and at least 14% silicon, with the balance mostly iron.
It is added to molten steel in the furnace or the ladle. The silicon and manganese combine with dissolved oxygen, deoxidising the steel, and what remains alloys the steel with manganese and silicon. Doing both in one addition is why it is widely used in place of separate ferromanganese and ferrosilicon additions.
It is used by steel plants, induction furnace shops and foundries. Full chemical analysis and the lump size range are confirmed per lot on quotation.
Zenco Systems supplies silico manganese alongside ferro silicon, casting powder, ladle nozzles and the refractories used in steelmaking, across Kenya and East Africa.

Selection & Installation Guidance
Silico manganese is one of the standard alloy additions in steelmaking: a single material that deoxidises the melt and adds manganese and silicon to it. Grade 60/14 is the common specification, with at least 60% manganese and 14% silicon.
It is not a refractory. It is listed with the other steel-plant consumables — ferro silicon, casting powder, ladle nozzles and nozzle filling compound — under Refractory Accessories.
To request a quotation, send the grade, the lump size range, the quantity in tonnes and the delivery site.
Safety & Handling
Store dry and under cover, and charge only dry material: moisture on an alloy addition meeting molten steel is an explosion hazard. Wear gloves and eye protection when handling lumps, and a dust mask where fines are present.
Documentation
The manufacturer's technical datasheet and safety data sheet for the grade supplied are issued with every quotation, and name the certified values for this material.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is silico manganese 60/14?
A ferroalloy of manganese, silicon and iron. The 60/14 grade contains at least 60% manganese and at least 14% silicon.
What is it used for?
It is added to molten steel to remove oxygen and to alloy the steel with manganese and silicon, in one addition. It is used in steel plants, induction furnace shops and foundries.
Is it a refractory material?
No. It is an alloy addition that goes into the steel, not a lining material. It is listed with the other steel-plant consumables under Refractory Accessories.
What lump size is supplied?
It is supplied as lumps. Tell us the size range your furnace or ladle practice needs and the sales team will confirm what is available.
What should I send to get a quotation?
The grade, the lump size range, the quantity in tonnes and the delivery site. Availability, packaging, transport and documentation are confirmed by the sales team before dispatch.
