A gasket sheet is only as good as its match to the duty. Run through this checklist before you order.
- Medium. Steam, water, oil and fuel, and acids or chemicals each need a sheet with the right chemical resistance.
- Pressure and temperature. Higher pressures often call for a steel-reinforced sheet. Check the sheet’s rating, not just the pipe’s.
- Flange type and condition. Smooth, flat, undamaged faces seal best. Damaged flanges need repair first.
- Thickness. Thinner gaskets generally seal better when the flange faces are good. Thicker ones forgive rougher faces but need more care.
- Tightening. Tighten bolts evenly in a cross pattern, in stages, to the specified torque.
If you are unsure, tell us the medium, pressure, temperature and flange size and we will match the sheet and thickness.
